9.1.1 The existing
syllabi for AMIETE/DipIETE (all streams) have been
revised and upgraded. The revised syllabi have been implemented w.e.f June 2009 examination.
9.1.2 The old
syllabus will be followed upto Dec 2010 examinations.
The students who are unable to clear their AMIETE/DipIETE
examinations under old syllabi will automatically stand transferred to revised
syllabi after Dec 2010 examinations.
9.1.3 Revised syllabus of AMIETE consists of
20 Theory Papers, 4 Lab Examinations, Seminar, Project and 1 paper on
Communication Skills and Technical Writing and of DipIETE
consists of 15 Theory Papers, 4 Lab Examinations, Project and 1 paper on
Communication Skills and Technical Writing
Accordingly, a student transiting from old syllabus to revised syllabus shall
have to meet the criteria of revised syllabus. However, any paper passed in the
old syllabus will be considered in the revised syllabus and thus in
the new syllabus a student , may not be required to pass more than 20 theory
papers for AMIETE and 15 theory papers for DipIETE in
the new syllabus . Only in exceptional cases as given in the examples, a
student may be required to do the additional paper. Similarly, in the Lab Examination
also a student will not be required to do the Lab Examination which he has done
in the old syllabus.
9.1.4 The revised syllabus is more student friendly. To help the students for their smooth transition from old syllabi to revised syllabi the following
procedure shall be adopted:-
(a) A list of equivalent
subject of old syllabi vis-ΰ-vis subjects of revised syllabi is given in Appendix E, F & G for AMIETE
and AppendixH & I for DipIETE.
(b) The subjects of the new syllabus having one to one
correspondence in the old syllabus which a student is exempted from
/passed will be considered exempted /passed
in the new syllabus as well .
(c) The revised syllabus consists of core subjects and non core
subjects in each part. It is mandatory to pass all the core subjects whether
transiting from old syllabus to revised syllabus or persuing
only the revised syllabus.
(d) If a student has passed
a subject in old syllabus which is equivalent to core subject in the revised
syllabi, he would be considered having passed the subject and
will not be required to appear in that subject again. However, in
those cases where a subject passed in old syllabi is having no equivalence in
the revised syllabi a student will be given credit, in the relevant part for
non-core subject only.
(e) In few
cases where a student has passed core or non
core subject of a part and in addition has done
some subjects which are not there in the revised syllabi, such subjects
will be considered as additional subjects.
In such cases, for calculating overall grading, the best will be considered , whether they are
core, non-core or non equivalent subjects.
(f) Where 2 subjects from old syllabus are
merged into one subject in the revised syllabus, and if the student has passed both the subjects under
old syllabus he/she will be given credit of having passed, two papers. In case,
the student has passed only one subject
out of two in the old syllabi he/she will
have to pass the other subject before Dec 2010 exam. In this
case, the subject
passed in old syllabi will be shown as additional subject and shall not count
towards CGPA.
(g)From
Dec 2010 onwards, no examination will be conducted for Elective subjects listed in the old
syllabus. Thereafter , the student shall have
to appear for the elective subjects from
the list of Electives given in the revised syllabus only .
(h) If an elective subject in the old syllabus
is compulsory in the revised syllabus, a student having passed such an elective subject will be deemed to have
passed the compulsory paper in revised syllabus .
(i) Project
and Seminar passed in the old syllabus will be treated as passed in the new syllabus also.
(j) LabDipIETE(ET) Lab-I (DL01)
of old syllabus is not granted any equivalent Lab in the revised syllabus
therefore students will have to pass lab-I (DE91) in the revised syllabus even
if he/she has passed Lab-I in the old syllabus. Also ,
those who have passed Lab-II of old syllabus will be exempted in DE92 and DE94
of the revised syllabus.
(k)LabDipIETE(CS) Lab-I (DL01) has not been
granted any equivalent lab in the revised syllabus. Students have to pass Lab-I
in all the cases. Those who have passed Lab-II (DL02/DC19) will be exempted in
DC91 and DC94 as Lab-II (old syllabus) has been granted equivalent to DC91
and DC94.
(l) Lab
AMIETE(ET) Lab-I(AL01) of
old scheme is equivalent to Lab-I (AE91) in the revised syllabus.
Similarly Lab-II (AL02 of old scheme) is equivalent to AE94. Therefore a
student shall have to do Lab-II (AE92) and Lab-III (AE93) even if he has done
Lab-I and Lab-II in the old scheme.
(m) Lab AMIETE(CS/IT)
: A student has to essentially do two
Labs i.e. AC93 and AC94. Lab-I (AL01) of old scheme is equivalent
to Lab-I (AC91) of revised syllabus. Similarly Lab-II (AL02) is equivalent to
Lab-II (AC92) .
There is no equivalence for AC93 & AC94 in the revised syllabus.
9.2 Example for AMIETE
9.2.1 Example 1
Suppose a student of AMIETE
(ET) has passed the following 16 subjects under old Syllabus.
(a) Compulsory subjects
16
AE01, AE02, AE03, AE04,
AE05, AE06,AE07,
AE08,
AE09, AE10, AE11, AE12,
AE13, AE14, AE15, AE16.
(b) Elective - Nil
(c) Lab Exam (AL01) -
1
9.2.1.1In this case all subjects have an equivalency in the revised
syllabus except AE02, AE03, AE07 and AE13. The transition will be worked out as
under.
(a) The candidate will be
exempted from appearing in Lab-I (AE91) revised syllabus as Lab-I under old
syllabus (AL01) is equivalent to AE91. The student will have to do Lab-II
(AE-92), Lab III (AE93) and Lab-IV (AE94) in the revised syllabus.
(b) (i) Total No of
subjects to be passed under revised
syllabus 20
(ii) Total no of subject passed by the candidate
under old Syllabus 16
(iii) Balance subject to be passed to complete AMIETE 4
(c) (i) Core
subjects to be passed under revised syllabus 12
(ii) Core subjects passed by the candidate in old
scheme and have
equivalency in revised syllabus 8
(iii) Balance Core subjects to be passed 4
9.2.1.2 Though the student has to pass four more subjects to
complete 20 subjects but since he/she has not passed elective papers, the
student shall have to pass four remaining core courses and two electives
to complete AMIETE. Thus in this case the student has to pass 22 subjects. Two
subjects that do not exist in the revised syllabus will be reflected as
additional papers.
9.2.1.3 In addition to above the student has to pass a paper in
Communication Skill & Technical Writing, Project & Seminar.
9.2.2 Example 2
9.2.2.1 Suppose a candidate of AMIETE (ET) has passed the
following papers under old syllabus.
(a) Compulsory
subjects - 14
AE01, AE02, AE04, AE05, AE07,
AE09, AE10, AE11,AE12,AE13,
AE14, AE15, AE16, AE35, AE18,
AE36, AL01 & AL02.
(b) Elective -(AE20) 1
(c) Lab Exam - 2
(AL01,AL02)
9.2.2.2 In this case AE02, AE07 and AE13 have no equivalency in
revised syllabus.
9.2.2.3 Following criteria will apply for transition to revised
syllabus
(a) (i) Total No
of subjects to be passed under revised Syllabi
20
(ii) Total no of
subject passed by the candidate under old Syllabus 14+ 1
(ii) Balance subject
to be passed to complete AMIETE 5
(b) (i) Core subjects
to be passed under revised
syllabus 12
(ii) Core subjects passed by the
candidate in old
scheme and have equivalency in revised syllabus 7
(iii) Balance Core subjects to be passed 5
(c) (i) Electives
subject to be passed under revised syllabus 2
(ii) Elective passed
under old syllabus 1
(iii) Balance elective to passed 1
(iv) Balance lab paper 2
(AE92,
AE93)
9.2.2.4 The
student has to pass 6 more subjects in order to complete AMIETE out of which he
has to complete 5 Core subjects and 1 elective from the list of electives in
revised syllabus.
9.2.2.5 Lab
Exam- The student has passed AL01 and AL02. In revised syllabus Lab-I
(AE91) and Lab IV (AE94) are equivalent to AL01 and AL02 respectively of old
syllabus. Therefore a student needs to pass Lab II (AE92) and Lab-III (AE93)
only.
9.2.2.6 The
student has also to pass the paper on Communication Skill and Technical
Writing. Project (AE18) and Seminar (AE36) since already passed he will be considered
to have passed these subjects in the revised syllabus.
9.2.3 Example
3
9.2.3.1 Suppose
a candidate of AMIETE (CS) has passed the following courses in old
syllabus
(a)
Compulsory subjects 16
AC01, AC02, AC03, AC04, AC05, AC07,
AC08, AC09, AC10, AC11, AC12, AC13,
AC14,AC15,AC16, AC35, AL01,AL02.
(b) Elective - Nil
(c) Lab Exam - 2
(AL01,
AL02)
9.2.3.2 In
this case there is no equivalency for AC09. AC02 is a paper on Communication
Skills & Technical writing. The 2 subjects AC05 and AC06 have been merged
to a new subject AC52. Similarly, two
subjects AC08 and AC13 have been merged to a new subject AC59 in the revised
syllabus.
9.2.3.3 Following
methodology will be adopted for transition.
(a) (i) Total No. of subjects to be
passed under revised Syllabi 20
(ii)
Total No of subjects passed by the candidate under old Syllabi 14+1+1/2
(AC02 will not counted under revised syllabus)
(iii) Balance subject to be passed to complete
AMIETE 5
(b) (i) Core subjects
to be passed under revised
syllabus 13
(ii) Core subjects passed by the candidate in old scheme
and have equivalency in revised syllabus 9+half or AC52
(iii)Balance
Core subjects to be passed 3+ (either AC06 or
AC52)
(In
this case AC05 will be additional paper)
9.2.3.4 The
student has to pass 7 more subjects out of which 4 are core subjects. Out of these 4 core subjects one of the core
subject AC52 is equivalent to AC05 and AC06 of old syllabus. Now he has already
done AC05, it would be advisable to the student to pass AC06 before December
2010. He may also opt for AC52 in which case there will not be
any weightage for AC05. After December 2010, a student will have to
opt for AC52 only. Thus the student has to pass 3 core subjects i.e. AC64,
AC66, AC68, two more from electives and any non core subject from revised
syllabus.
9.2.3.5 Lab Examination The student has passed Lab-I (AL01)
and Lab-II (AL02) in old syllabus. In the revised syllabus Lab-I (AC91) is
equivalent to AL01and Lab II (AC92) is equivalent to ALO2.Therefore student has
to pass only 2 Labs (Lab-III and Lab-IV)-AC93 & AC94).
9.2.3.6 In addition to above the student has to pass Project &
Seminar. The paper on Communication Skill and Technical Writing has already
been cleared by
him.
9.3 Example
1 of DipIETE
9.3.1 Suppose a candidate of Diploma
(ET) has passed the following subjects under old syllabus.
(a) Compulsory subjects 12
DE01, DE02, DE03, DE04,
DE05, DE06, DE07,DE08,
DE09, DE11,DE12, DE23.
(b) Elective- NIL
(c) Lab Exam- 1 (DL01)
9.3.1.2 In this case 2 subjects DE05 and DE06 have been merged to
a revised syllabus subject DE52. There
is no equivalency of DE02 and DE03 in the revised syllabus.
9.3.1.3 Thus the transition
will be worked out as follows:-
(a)
(i) Total No. of subjects to
be passed under revised Syllabus 15
(ii)
Total No. of subjects passed by the candidate under old Syllabus 12
(iii) Balance subject to be passed to
complete AMIETE 3
(b)(i) Core subjects to be passed under revised syllabus 9
(ii)
Core subjects passed by the candidate in old syllabus
and have equivalency in revised syllabus
7
(iii) Balance Core
subjects to be passed under revised syllabus
2
9.3.1.4
In the old syllabi he would have completed DipIETE
after clearing 3 subjects. But in the revised syllabus, he has to pass 2 core
subjects and 2 elective subjects to complete his DipIETE.
He also has to
pass all the Lab examinations though he has passed Lab-I in old syllabus.
9.3.1.4
Besides the student has to pass Project and Communication skill and Technical
Writing under revised syllabi.
9.4 Example 2 of DipIETE
9.4.1
Suppose a candidate of Diploma (CS) has passed the following subjects
under old syllabus
(a) Compulsory subjects - 11
DC01, DC02, DC03, DC04, DC05,
DC06, DC07, DC08, DC09, DC11& DC23.
(b)
Elective (DC14, DC15)
- 2
(c) Lab Exam (DL01, DL02) - 2
9.4.1.1 In
this case 2 subjects DC03 and DC05 have been merged to a revised syllabus
subject DC52.
9.4.1.2
The subject DC09 under old syllabus is equivalent to the subject DC66 which is
an elective paper under revised syllabus. The subject DC14 under old syllabi is
equivalent to DC61 which is a compulsory subject of revised syllabi.
9.4.1.3
Thus the transition will be worked out as follows.
(a) (i) Total No. of subjects to be passed under
revised Syllabus 15
(ii) Total No.
of subject passed by the candidate under old syllabus 11 + 2
(iii)Balance subject to be passed to complete DipIETE 2
(b)(i)Core
subjects to be passed under revised syllabus
10
(ii) Core subjects passed by the candidate in old syllabus
and have equivalency in revised syllabus 8
(iii) Balance core subjects to be passed under revised
syllabus 2
9.4.1.4 The student has to
pass 3 subjects besides Project ands Communication skill & Technical
writing to complete DipIETE under revised syllabus.
Out of these 3 subjects 2 are core subjects and 1 any non core subject under
revised syllabus.
9.4.1.5 Lab Exam- Since the student has passed DL01 and DL02 under old syllabus he will be exempted in DC91 and DC94. He has to pass DC92 and DC93 under revised syllabus.
